An experienced legal, risk and compliance professional, who can assist businesses in identifying and solving complex legal and operational problems. Nic has extensive background in advising boards of directors, executive management and businesses of varying sizes on various matters.
He has held the role of senior legal counsel / head of legal & compliance in various businesses, including medium-sized startups and listed multinationals. He focuses on identifying and solving complex operational, legal, secretarial and compliance problems in a manner that addresses the requirements of management, shareholders, employees and regulators.
His multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving supports businesses on an operational level and provides solutions that are cost effective and easy to implement.
He holds a BA (Stell); LLB (Stell); and MBA (Wits), as well as being a FAIS Compliance Officer (CO5868), a Representative and Key Individual.
An experienced Internal Audit and Risk Management professional, who contributes positively to any organisation. He has the ability to analyse any strategy and business process to identify areas for enhancement, either through leveraging existing resources or employing technology, while always being mindful of the cost versus the potential benefit to be gained.
Rainer has gained a wide variety of skills, being a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), and experience in the last 14 years, engaging with employees, all levels of management, board members, shareholders, and regulators ensuring control deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner. He is seen as a trusted advisor to each stakeholder he engages with.
He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (South Africa) and holds a B Com degree, specialising in Accounting Science, and B Com post-graduate Honours degree, specialising in Internal Audit, from the University of Pretoria.
